We offer a wide range of food:

* Freshly prepared salads (large and small)
* Charcuterie and foie gras and seasonal starters

We also serve tea, coffee and drinks outside of the main service times.

HOW TO FIND US

The restaurant is situated in the centre of the village on the lower main road, nearly opposite the charcuterie <Le Montsegurian>.

If you come from the lower main parking or the camping area, follow the road straight into the village and continue for 50m. The restaurant is on the right.

If you come from the central parking, near the children's play area, follow the signs into the village and, turning right and down past the church yard. You will see the restaurant in front of you at the bottom of the hill.

There are direction signs and maps in the parking areas and all over the village.

MONTSEGUR - VILLAGE AND CHATEAU

Montsegur is a beautiful classified village in the foothills of the pyrenees, just below the chateau of montsegur. It is situated at an altitude of 900m.

The Chateau of Montsegur is famous as the final fortress of the Cathars and is one of the Grand Sites of the Midi Pyrenees. It is precariously situated on top of a small mountain, accessable to those who like climbing up steep hills. The Chateau is a ruin, but the views from the top are breataking. There are guided tours (in French), for those who make it up to the top.

There is a museum in the village displaying artifacts from the chateau and surrounding areas.

The village has many amenities (small food shops, gift shops, displays and workshops, childrens play and picnic areas, gites, bed and breakfasts etc.) and is an ideal place to spend some time, for lunch or dinner combined with a visit to the chateau, or for a holiday in the countryside or mountains.

It is a very well situated village with easy access to/from airports main shopping towns and even the seaside.

The village has much interesting architecture and many original features. It has won and been runner-up the regional competition for the floral village for several years now.

The climate is warm in the summer months, but because of the altitude not so hot and breathless as the lower lying regions. In the winter we have some heavy snow falls, but it never stays long. Montsegur is very near the ski station of Monts d'Olmes for those who want more snow...

Montségur is 15 minutes from Lavelanet or Belesta, 30 minutes from Foix or Mirepoix, 1 hour from Carcassonne or Quillan and 1.5 hours from Toulouse.

All our dishes are home made (fait maison), using produce sourced from the small local farmers and markets, our wine comes locally, mainly from co-operatives, who respect the natural ways of production, our beers come from local craft brewers.

We try to offer and promote the best of the Ariège and surrounding areas.

We have two eating areas for a total of 30 people and a quiet private terrace for 25. We also have a private function room for up to 30 people, available for group bookings.

MONTSEGUR - BY FOOT (OR BIKE...)

Montségur is sutuated on two main walking routes; the Chemin des Bonshommes and the Sentier Cathare.

It is a overnight stop between Roquefixade and Comus / Prades.

Many walkers and cyclists stop one extra night in the village to explore the chateau and surrounding countryside on a well earned day off.
